The last few months have been very busy in south west Sheffield with a number of court refurbishment projects taking place in readiness for the new outdoor season.
Work has been progressing well at Hallam Grange resurfacing the tennis courts and upgrading the floodlights. The block of 4 courts at the club have been resurfaced in porous macadam and the floodlights have been upgraded on the 2 middle courts. In addition, the single top court has been resurfaced and artifical grass will be added. The project has been funded by the club, with a grant also from Sport England and funding from Yorkshire LTA. The resurfaced courts will painted in the next few weeks as the weather warms up.
Work has also been taking place at neighbours Fulwood, with their own facility project. The club are converting the third single grass court to artificial grass and installing floodlights. In addition, the block of 3 hard courts are being widened and resurfaced with painted porous macadam. The project, which received support from the LTA and Yorkshire LTA is due to be completed by the end of April.
The final project has been to renovate 2 of the courts at Bingham Park. This has been a challenging project on the hilly site that has involved the resurfacing and installing new fencing on 2 courts. The retaining walls were also rebuilt as part of the project. Some of the old dilapidated courts were also decommissioned during the project and landscaped over. The new courts are also due to painted shortly and are expected to open before the end of April.
