The LTA Tennis Awards celebrate the achievements made by outstanding individuals and venues throughout the past year. There are 10 categories of awards and nominations for these are taken between September and the end of November each year.
Nominations are initially made at County Level, decisions made and awards presented. The details of county winners are sent to the LTA and the head of each region then organises a judging panel to select winners. Once the regional awards are decided a National judging panel then decides the winners of the National Awards.
Chesterfield were nominated for the Club of the Year award and Charlie Pick for the Development Coach award and were presented with the County awards at the Derbyshire LTA Award evening in March.
Eleanor Lake from Hallam Grange won Young Volunteer of the Year for Yorkshire and accepted her award back in December, she has also gone on to win the next round – LTA North Regional.
Chesterfield acknowledges that much of their recent success and development is due to the impact of their relatively new coaching team Tennis Chesterfield who joined them in Sept 2018. The coaching programme has improved, membership has grown, disability provision is excellent and growing continually. The Club is committed to continuing to grow, develop and improve the facilities and services available to members and non-members.
We all now have to wait until June to find out if they have been shortlisted for the National awards – fingers crossed!!
